Ongoing MoodleNews GDPR coverage.

The “most important change in data privacy regulation in 20 years” is finally here. By now, you’re probably lying comfortably warm underneath a pile of news, guides, whitepapers, etc. Sorry for adding fuel to the fire, but in reality, the work in ensuring GDPR compliance has just begun.

Don’t let the information overload freeze you. On top of the unabridged but possibly inscrutable text of the Regulation, many sites have been launched to offer comprehensive, if not exactly official, guidance to better navigate the 99 articles and its compliance.

Take note of the following sites, which might serve as reference, but are not official EU sources:

  • gdpr-info.eu It’s distinctive element is the “14 Key Issues” list, an attempt to bring an organization of GPDR around what could be the public’s main concerns. It includes broad considerations (“Privacy by Design”), practical implications (“Email Marketing,” “Fines and Penalties”) and even special cases (“Thirds Countries”).
  • eugdpr.org Perhaps a blunter take, it keeps it simple with three main sections (“The Regulation,” “The Process,” and “More Resources”), and two basic guides (“GDPR Key Changes,” “FAQs”) available on the home page.

And of course, if you are looking for open learning, EdTech and Moodle-specific GDPR content, you can always trust in our ongoing GDPR coverage!
