A “record number of educators” voted in the third edition of THE Journal’s 2017 Readers’ Choice Awards.

Across almost fifty categories, Moodle earned the top (“Platinum”) spot as the “Favorite E-Portfolio,” over Blackboard Learn, Canvas, and G Suite for Education. None of these technologies are primarily portfolio solutions.

An “Overall Technologies” category, bundling solutions by type and then ranking them, gives LMS a “Silver” spot, tied with learning software.

The “absolute winner” is Google. From the Chromebook, which THE considers a mobile device, to G Suite, Cast, Hangouts, Slides, and the search engine itself, the tech giant harnessed some 20 top-three spots across all categories.

Regarding LMS (the full name of the category is “Learning Management Systems, Course Management Systems & E-Learning Platforms,”) Google Classroom gets “Platinum,” with Schoology earning “Gold” and “Silver” going to Canvas.

The recognition follows the premise of the previous week’s Campus Technology, albeit with different categories. Unlike the Campus Technology awards, no exact number of voters is disclosed. Both Campus Technology and THE Journal are brands of 1105 Media Inc.
