Moodle Mobile 3.3.1 Out Further Into Lithuanian, Serbian, Multimedia and Offline Zones

Moodle Mobile 3.3.1 is officially launched, with no extra features but several improvements to make for a more widely accessible experience for users.

The major lines of work for Moodle Mobile are described as follows. See more on the release notes here and read a PR summary at moodle.com.

Moodle Database Offline

The Moodle Database activity allows classmates to generate a standard set of data which later can be re-purposed for reference of analysis. With Moodle Mobile 3.3.1, students can add records to the class database wherever they are, which will later sync with the central repository. This makes it ideal for data gathering expeditions out in the world. Just like in the classic database, users can add text, links, and images to an entry.

In addition to this ability, the app now does a better job of letting users know when there is a connection available and which activities they can still do even if there isn’t one.

Media Handling and Accessibility

As a response to community feedback, controls and storage options for audio and video content in lessons are more intuitive. Moodle already offers a wide compatibility of media types, players, and backup options for media playback, even offline.

New Translations

Lithuanian and Serbian languages are now available, thanks to community contributions. For Serbian text, users can choose Latin or Cyrillic character sets.

Under the Hood

Several bugs regarding to media playback have been fixed, including YouTube videos. Another important line of work improved the relationship between the mobile operating system and its general layout.
