Too good to be true? This non-Moodle partner, Edu Labs, has launched a new free tool for Moodle administrators to easily setup a monitoring service for their site.

Are you interested to know when you hosting has gone down or something has happened to your Moodle site, but currently the only way you know is if disgruntled users notify you? Toodle for Moodle requires no credit card, won’t sell your contact info (according to their privacy policy), and takes less than a minute to setup. I’ll definitely be giving it a try to see if it helps.

Check it out at https://toodle.org/. According to the post that launched the service at Moodle.org,

I know there are a lot of uptime monitoring tools (free and paid) to check our servers and apps, but this one is a free one designed to check Moodle based sites and given to all Moodle community as a Christmas gift!

It´s crystal clear that all of us, technicians, managers and teachers (not just the admins) need to know if something wrong happens to our moodle site. Most of times, the first ones to notice when your moodle site is down are your users, and then here comes the complains, boss calls and the shame for be the last one to notice it.

Through this monitoring service, called TOODLE -Tools for Moodle- (http://toodle.org), we can check with a robot in time intervals the uptime of our moodle site, is like to have a sysadmin 24/7 working for free.

If http://toodle.org detects something wrong with your moodle site you will be emailed with issue details, including a printscreen of your site. These are the main features of http://toodle.org:
Checks your moodle site each defined time interval
Warning messages emailed to you (Moodle site down)
Error description and issue printscreen.
Monthly uptime reports with downtimes, length, time and days of the week. A very useful review to write your report or to ask for a refund to your Moodle Hosting Provider.
