This is a nifty little search tool created by the makers of SCORM cloud (Rustici Software). eLearning Atlas has aggregated over 1000 products and vendors for eLearning together and made them accessible through an easily filtered search. If you’re looking for anything “Moodle”, this is a great place to start: http://www.elearningatlas.com/#!/f/1/10/list/r/search:Moodle.

Moodle 2.2 Preview

Michael de Raadt (@salvatore) recently posted a Moodle 2.2 preview at his blog: http://salvetore.wordpress.com/2011/07/29/roadmap_22/. At the end the preview points at the Moodle.org Roadmap which gives some great information on what you can tentatively expect with the next major release of Moodle (Moodle 2.2 due in December 2011).

Here are a couple of the main bullets which you can drill down into:

Gradebook 2.2 - refactoring of grading interfaces as a central system
Rubrics - core implementation of Rubrics grading, usable by all modules that support grading
Assignment - refactor module to remove subtypes, add web services for offline grading
Files 2.2 - Improvements to files interface and repository links
Paged course formats - Paged course formats – allowing each section to be in separate pages
Restore 1.9 user data – adding the ability to restore user data in 1.9 backups
MyMobile theme – integrated into core

SimpleMoodle.com is a site where you can get free SCORM 1.2 zip files that can be imported into your course via a SCORM format classroom or the SCORM activity. There are 18 different modules covering the basics of Microsoft Office Suite products (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.) to podcasting, social networking and whiteboards.

SCORM Cloud + Moodle = #SCORM 2004 conformance

SCORM.com has recently announced that Moodle + SCORM Cloud, it’s own web hosted service has been certified for SCORM 2004. Until now Moodle has only supported SCORM1.2 (though steps have been taken to support SCORM 2004). The third party module is available at no cost and can be installed like other Moodle add-ons and plug-ins.

Easy to follow documentation is available at SCORM.com [link]. Though you will have to sign up for the free trial version to test it out.

For people and companies looking for next level of SCORM capability, SCORM Cloud lets them push Moodle miles forward … in about five minutes.

SCORM is a project of the US Department of Defense and is designed to create a framework for universally plug-able learning content. SCORM Cloud is a new service from Rustici Software that allows you to host your SCORM content online (and now plug it into other sites like Moodle where it will log student progress and/or grades). @Moodletuts created a quick (4:40) tutorial on the process of creating a course and integrating several activities and resources (an embedded video, and 2 SCORM packages made with Articulate Presenter and Quiz Maker).

Check out Moodletuts.com for more great content.

If you’ve never created a course from the Administrator view or embedded video this is a quick and easy tutorial that can illustrate how.
