“Your might be a Moodler…” get some LOLs from Moodle.org
If you know who Jeff Foxworthy is, then you're familiar with "you might be a redneck..." At Moodle.org they have their own orange version of the jokes (some funnier than others) about die-hard Moodlers. Some of my favorite "you might be a Moodler..." You describe the color of something as "Moodle" orange. You throw away all but the [...]
Moodle Tunes Round up (your mixtape for Moodling)
If you haven't noticed Moodle is making a push into songs and lyrics lately. There are at least 4 Moodle-tribute songs available in lyric or music video form. Check them all out and sing along. Or at least hum that tune while creating courses, activities or server administrating. (That's what I'll be doing all day. Robbie Williams is [...]
Text Editor Easter Egg (martin)
This one is new to me: Type (martin) into any text area in Moodle for a treat. As a bonus, if you're handy with creating emoticons you can even add your own. Just go to your Moodle and login as admin. Go to Administration, Appearance, HTML Editor and follow the instructions for adding your own emoticon.
Me and my Friend Moodle Prezi by @Kentbrooks
Check out this great presentation which comically highlights the adoption of/transition to Moodle at Western Oklahoma State College by Kent Brooks (@Kentbrooks). Me and My Friend Moodle on Prezi
Public Service Annoucement: Stop the Scroll of Death!
A quick public service announcement on a very important subject. Prevent the scroll of death and stop symptoms like: inefficient screen navigation scroll of death finger wheel cramping next step confusion resource hide-and-seek syndrome and more. Call now (Jenny is standing by). Yet another great Moodle contribution from [...]
A new Country Moodle Song…
We all heard (and loved) the techno-pop Moodle song by Dawn of Thunder. Well now there's a new country Moodle song on the interwebs for you to enjoy (no matter your musical taste it sounds like Moodle-pop music is hitting all genres). This song is by Kent Brooks (@kentbrooks) and was shared by Tim Hunt on Moodle.org. It chronicles the switch [...]
RIP: The Loan Calculator
Unfortunately with the release of Moodle 2.0 it seems we have to say goodbye to an old friend and mainstay of many a Moodle installation world wide. Farewell Loan Calculator. Why or how you ended up in the Moodle core code base I may never know. But you were oft seen and seldom used. http://docs.moodle.org/en/Blocks
Get a sweet Moodle themed desktop wallpaper
Grab this wall paper to add some life to your computer's desktop. Heck, install it on a friend's computer. Download the image here: http://goo.gl/KpjVJ. The image was created by Poloko Potes (according to this @Moodle tweet). Very very cool.
@Moodleman’s nod to #MontyPython and the release of Moodle 2: “and there was much rejoicing”
Julian Ridden (@moodleman) sent this along via the comments last week and it's worth the sharing (if just for a quick smile). Though...Martin's floating head is a little frightening. Thanks, Julian! Video link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rH-Z6wGpJVc
Meet the Real Mister Moodle.
I've used the pseudonym "Mr. Moodle" to answer a few Moodle-related questions on Moodlenews to keep things interesting. The truth is that Mister Moodle is real (thanks for pointing out out Martin!) and from now on he'll be fielding all of the "Ask Mister Moodle" questions. I imagine he stays on top of all new developments in [...]
