Prepare to be blown away (I am) by the Official Mobile Moodle App #ios #mobile
Included in the release notes for 2.1 is information about Moodle HQ's official Mobile app. You can get a sneak peek at some screen shots in the Tracker: http://tracker.moodle.org/browse/MOBILE-42 and I think you will NOT be disappointed. Looks amazing thanks to the guidance of Martin Dougiamas and skills of Julian Ridden (among [...]

Text Editor Easter Egg (martin)
This one is new to me: Type (martin) into any text area in Moodle for a treat. As a bonus, if you're handy with creating emoticons you can even add your own. Just go to your Moodle and login as admin. Go to Administration, Appearance, HTML Editor and follow the instructions for adding your own emoticon.

Big news is coming from Moodle.org where it's pending release of Moodle 2.1 is being tested by the community (right now and ongoing). 2.1 beta is currently available from both the Windows and Mac version download pages for your convenience (if you're feeling adventurous) or you can join the testing crew at Moodle.org and check out all the new [...]
Where’s the Oldest Continuously Running Moodle?
I know that Moodle.org has been a Moodle site since Moodle's community was started, but I'm curious where the other "old" Moodles are? What schools as early adopters are still going strong and raising/upgrading their Moodles for the 5 or even coming up on 10 years? Here's a quick survey to try to find the oldest continuously running [...]
Moodle named as “Spotlight Innovations” Company along with @Str8erline
Not often that two of the educational projects I work on are celebrated in the same report. The US Chamber's Institute for Competitive Workforce released its "College 2.0: Transforming Higher Education through Greater Innovation and Smarter Regulation" report which highlighted key policy and regulatory fixes as well as several companies and [...]

Last week the Mountain Moot took place in Montana (http://www.mountainmoot.com/) and Mike Agostinelli, a 6th grade teacher, presented "Enhancing Face to Face Instruction with Moodle". This is a nifty little presentation (17 slides) which highlights some of the design techniques and tools that Mike employs to bring Moodle use into the [...]

True to the effort to redesign/organize the Moodle Docs, some of the content has been updated already for Moodle 2.0. Check out this Doc of the Day for Getting Started with Moodle, part of the Moodle in Education pages. Link: Moodle_in_education#Starting_with_Moodle Starting with Moodle Countless anecdotes from Moodle users suggest that [...]

Someone recently asked me, "how can I find a Moodle developer to help me with my Moodle project?" Through my own experience there are just a few basic ways to find someone with Moodle help. So if you're interested in finding a Moodle programmer, or if you have a project in need of some paid technical expertise, read on. The very first thing [...]
Folderview course format will not be in 2.1 release
Unfortunately we got a quick update on the status of Folderview, the new course format from Moodlerooms and it will most likely not be ready for inclusion in the 2.1 release coming at the end of the month. Folderview is a contribution from some folks with a really strong interest in improving and maintaining Moodle, so I was reviewing it in an [...]
