E-Learn Magazine (a product of Moodlerooms) just posted a great article on how the Universidad Autonoma de Guadalajara has used Moodle since 2006 to improve its academic processes and truly begin to deliver on the full promise of online learning. You can check out the full article here.
As explained in the article, UAG’s initial forays with Moodle led to two major initiatives at the school that support the LMS: 1) Campus-wide training workshops for all teachers on how to use technology to support their classes and 2) support for developing online courses and programs.
Unsurprisingly, the online learning initiative took hold with both teachers and students. UAG even goes so far as to guarantee that a student can:
complete an entire degree without necessarily going to the university, including all of the administrative overhead like registration and matriculation materials.
The article also speaks about how UAG is using this opportunity with Moodle to continuously be forward looking and competitive. One of the most important factors in this pursuit is engaging student – an area where teachers are provided specific support in areas such as using social media.
