Tin Can Launcher For Moodle now available

tincanapiTin Can API is a tool that allows for learning activities to be tracked and data to be gathered based on a learners interactions. You can think of it as something like Learning Tools Interoperability but with the ability to get much more granular information about learner experiences. Read our post about Tin Can replacing SCORM to brush up.

Andrew Downes just completed a Moodle Plugin that allows users to launch Tin Can activities from a Moodle course and then track them. Andrew goes on to explain that the launcher could be used with Articulate Storyline or Adobe Captivate training modules/activities. The plugin has been submitted to the Moodle.org addon database but is not yet available (as of 8/9 at 8am EST). You can get your hands on a copy though from github: https://github.com/garemoko/MoodleLaunch.

Thanks for the info. Could anybody provide a specific example about how this could be implemented? I’ve gone through Rustici’s page (www.tincanapi.com) and done several searches but I haven’t found a practical example yet. All I read is how nice it will be to “collect members’ learning experiences”, but have not found a practical example yet. Thanks.
