As usual, here are a few educational organizations and institutions who’ve either made the switch to Moodle or are considering it:
- Elon University, Elon, NC, USA [Student article]: Elon students and faculty are considering a move to Moodle from Blackboard over the summer of 2012 once the current LMS contract has expired. The move is driving by cost savings per student user and by the growing movement from commercial proprietary platforms to commercially supported open source solutions.
- University of Portsmouth, Portsmouth, Hampshire, UK [Blog post]: UofP will start planning its move to Moodle this year (but the switch will not occur until 2013). The three short listed LMSs were Blackboard, Sakai and Moodle [short list of LMSs]
- Azerbaijan Institute of Information Technologies (IIT) of the National Academy of Sciences [Article/Press Release]: IIT of Azerbaijan will use Moodle for educational programs managed through and supported by the IIT of the National Academy of Sciences.
