From Moodle.org: Getting Started for Teachers

It’s back to school week!  Here’s another great guide for teachers just starting out with Moodle.

Moodle.org is the ultimate resource for learning Moodle, there’s just so much packed into the site that sometimes it’s easy to overlook the best content that’s available. Here’s a quick link to the Moodle.org Getting Started for Teachers guide: http://docs.moodle.org/en/Getting_started_for_teachers

This getting started guide provides a text/image-based look at the essential knowledge and information you need to get started with your Moodle classroom (after Moodle has been installed, setup and is ready to enroll students/users.

It’s a great overview of the need-to-know info any teacher should understand before diving into big orange.  From the course editing section (complete with a icon legend) to the General Advice section it’s a concise reference and adequate starting point for any new Moodler.
